REID , Eric Douglas With hearts filled with gratitude for his life, his devilish humour, his gentle spirit and his warm generous heart, we, his family and friends, lay Eric Douglas Reid to rest. Eric was husband to Shirley Brown of Calgary and brother to Dennis Neale Reid of Toronto. He was predeceased by his parents Neale Reid and Agnes (Dundas) Reid of Toronto. Eric was born August 7, 1948 and raised in Toronto. He died June 23, 2009 in the home he dearly loved and shared with Shirley and his pooch Elmo. Eric's life centered around his wife, his home, his family and friends, and his unquenchable passion for hockey. He played with the Brewster Broken Blades, the Energizer Bunnies and the Dark Side Hockey Team. The scent of Rub A5-35 signaled that Eric had arrived for a game. He maintained the delusion that the Leafs would bring home the Stanley Cup. After moving to Banff in 1974, Eric drove for Brewsters as a tour bus operator. He worked for the City of Calgary Transit the last twenty-two years. Eric's life revolved around so very many special friendships, ranging over decades and from coast to coast. He was "Uncle Eric" to Zack, Josh, Luke, Brandy, Rob, Chantel and Riley. Along with a host of others, his close friends John Christie of Kelowna, Ron Saville and Jon Crawford of Calgary will miss him greatly. Dr. Brent and Dr. Susan Kinnie, Dr. Sean Grondin, Dr. Don Morris, Unit 61 Staff at the Foothills and the Home Care Palliative Team gave Eric an extra year of remarkable living. Thank You to you all. An Open House in Celebration of Eric's Life will be held at home, 204 Doverthorn Close S.E., on Saturday, June 27 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Gifts are declined.
