SUMMERTOWN, S.C. - Emmett Lewis Taylor, 87, widower of Loretta Orene Boyd Taylor, died Sunday, August 26, 2007 at Clarendon Memorial Hospital. Born in Summers County, WV, he was a son of the late Emmett Cleveland Taylor and the late Gertrude Taylor. He retired from the US Army after 20 years of service and was a veteran of World War II. Survivors include two daughters, Elaine Elmore of Summerton, and Wanda Powell and her husband, Jerry of Melissa, TX; four grandchildren, Amy Heath and her husband, Matthew of Charleston, Tim Powell and his wife, March of Gainesville, FL, Wayne Elmore and his wife, Susan of Sumter, and Bryan Elmore and his wife, Amanda of Melbourne, FL; and six great-grandchildren, Lauren Elizabeth, Madison, Braden, Jack, Travis, and Seth. Graveside services, with military honors, will be held at 3 P.M. Thursday in the St. Paul Cemetery in Summerton with the Rev. Rob Pierce officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. Wednesday at the home of his daughter, Elaine Elmore in Summerton. Memorials may be made to the Cypress Foundation of Clarendon Memorial Hospital, P.O. Box 550, Manning, SC 29102.
