Emily Oak Davis, 83, Hilton Head, S.C., wife of William J. Davis, passed away Fri., May 23, 2008, at Palm Meadows Court, Hilton Head. Emily and Bill raised their family in Mountain Lakes, N.J., and retired to Ormond Beach in 1981. Born in Harmersville, Pa., and raised in Monroe, Mich., she was the daughter of the late Elizabeth G. and Peter P. Oak. She attended Queens College, and was a former model, interior decorator and accomplished golfer. Emily will be remembered as a loving wife and mother, and a caring friend to all. Survivors include three sons and one daughter, William John Davis Jr., Los Angeles, Calif., Patrick Davis, Gaithersburg, Md., Elizabeth Hull, Hilton Head, and Peter Davis, Denmark, Maine; seven grandchildren, Bailey and Casey Davis, Charlie and Elodie Davis, Lauren Herndon and Jay and Davis Hull; and great-grandchild, John David Herndon. A private memorial service was held on May 25 in Hilton Head. In lieu of flowers, memorials suggested to Hospice Care of the Lowcountry, P.O. Box 3827, Bluffton, SC 29910.The Island Funeral Home and Crematory was in charge of arrangements.
