Denver, Colo. - Emily Louise Michael Carter, a longtime resident of Denver and the surrounding area, died at Rose Medical Center, Denver, Colo., on September 26. Born in Morgan County, Ga., September 16, 1922, she was preceded in death by her husband, Glen, also a resident of Denver.She is survived by one brother, Dr. Marion Michael (Molly) of Montgomery, Ala.; a sister, Mrs. W.B. Canter of Danville, Va.; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Edd Patton of Athens, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews, as well as grand-nieces and nephews.She was the oldest daughter and the third of seven children of Nelle Watson and Roy Few Michael, both residents of Athens, Ga. She was the great-niece of Monia Michael, the Poppy Lady, and a descendent of William Few who signed the U.S. Constitution as a representative for the State of Georgia.For a few years in the 1970s, she was a resident of Athens, where graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, October 7, 2009, at Evergreen Memorial Park with Rev. Bill Ricketts officiating.Bridges Funeral Home, Athens, has charge of arrangements.
