Emily Faye Rush Davis BREVARD, NC- Emily Faye Rush Davis, 91, widow of Marvin Harth Davis, passed away Sunday, November 9, 2014, in Brevard, NC. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, November 13, 2014, at St. John's United Methodist Church, Norway, SC, with the Reverend Neil Flowers and Reverend David Williamson officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 pm at the church. Burial will follow in Norway Cemetery. Faye was born January 1, 1923, in Olanta, SC. She was a daughter of the late Olive Smith and John Pickett Rush. She was a graduate of Columbia College where she was voted "Most Womanly" in 1946. Faye married Marvin in 1947, and moved to Norway, SC where she lived for 48 years. She was a teacher in the Orangeburg County School system for almost 20 years, a homemaker, and helped with her family's dairy farm, MHD River Farms. Faye was very active in her community. She was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church in Norway, a member of the United Methodist Women for 55 years, Chair of the Missions Committee, served on the Board of Trustees, was a Sunday School Teacher, and served on many other committees in the church. In the community, she was active in the Norway Matrons Club, Edisto Book Club, and Helping Hands Outreach Ministry. Faye's hobbies included baking, gardening, growing roses, and going to Clemson, with her husband, to see her tigers WIN! Survivors include two sons, Bob Davis (wife Sheila) of Rock Hill, SC and Neil Davis of Cope , SC; a daughter, Ann Davis Holshouser (husband Nick) of Brevard, NC; eight grandchildren Corrie Davis Tindal, Ali Davis, Meagan Davis, Mandy Davis Hovestadt, Emily Holshouser, Theo Holshouser, Brandenn Henrickson, and Tyler Henrickson; and a number of nieces and nephews. Faye was predeceased by a son, Frank Davis; brother, "J.P" Rush; and sister Rebecca Park.
