RYAN, Elsie Kathleen (nee Johnson) January 18, 1932 - March 30, 2008 On March 30, 2008 Elsie passed away after a brief illness. Elsie leaves her husband of fifty-five years, C. Pat Ryan; daughter Ellen (Jim); son Patrick "Zeke" (Carey); grandchildren Mackenzie Rose Lynn and Patrick Grant; her sisters Tyra Vi Forsyth and Luella Herd; her nephew, nieces and friends. Elsie was born in Drumheller to pioneering parents and was schooled in Rumsey and Trochu. Before marrying and moving to Calgary, Elsie worked for AGT in Drumheller. After she started her family she worked for Canada Safeway and once her children were raised she upgraded her education and started a new career with the CBE. In her retirement years Elsie took up painting and shared her talent with her family and friends with many of her hand-painted cards and vases. Elsie loved the many road trips she took throughout Alberta, Saskatchewan and the US to visit with family and friends and to see new sights. "We'll finish that last trip, take the Bleriot Ferry, go over the 11th bridge and stop at the Last Chance Saloon with you in our hearts." Elsie was predeceased by her parents Oscar and Tyra, her sister Beulah Hodge, brothers Roy, Tom and Jim and her two much loved nephews Dallas and Brian. At Elsie's request there will be no Service, a private Interment at Rumsey, AB will be held at a later date; memorials in Elsie's name may be made to STARS Air Ambulance. The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the doctors and staff of Unit 24 of PLH for their compassionate care of Elsie in her final days.
