ALBANY Elsie J. Johnson, born April 24, 1952, died Sunday, July 2, 2006 at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital after a 15 year fight with numerous illnesses that contributed to her unfortunate death. Born and raised in Albany, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Frances Wolfersheim. She received her GED in her late 20s and was a certified nursing assistant and home health aide. Elsie was a very caring and loving person who opened her wings to anyone who was in trouble. She showered love to those who needed love and guidance. Elsie was like a butterfly who always persevered in every aspect of life and never gave up her most favorite creation of all. She devoted all her time to the loved ones in her life. Wife of Willie Anderson; mother of John Norris, 37 of Daytona Beach, Fla., Roxanne Simpson, 25 of Albany, SPC Joseph Simpson, 24 of Ft. Hood, Texas, Natasha Jones, 19 and Victoria Simpson, 19, both of Albany; grandmother of Tajahney Jones, Adyin Simpson, Darrien Simpson, Kiasha Jacobs, Summer Griffen and Devon Simpson; sister of Helen Ashley and Janet Cesario. Also survived by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews; and special friends, Betty Springer, Robin Quattlebaum and Abilio Rodriquez. She was predeceased by her sons, Charles Wolfersheim and Joshua Simpson; sister, Charlene (Timothy) Hathway; brother-in-law, George Cesario; the father of her children, Rosewell A. Simpson and loving friend, Elsie Dayter along with many other loved ones which she has now gone home to meet. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 9 a.m. in the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave., Albany. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Friday 4-8 p.m. Interment Graceland Cemetery, Albany.
