PETERBOROUGH -- Elsie I. Johnson, 92, a resident of Harbor Side Pheasant Wood, died May 2, 2009, after a lengthy illness. She was born in New Ipswich on Sept. 24, 1916, the daughter of Emil and Hilja (Fox) Lilius. She was raised in New Ipswich and lived most of her life there. She had lived in Greenville Falls for 14 years and in Peterborough the last several years. She was a 1935 graduate of the former Appleton Academy of New Ipswich. She worked many years as a cloth inspector for Warwick Mill of New Ipswich. She retired in 1978. She also was a cook for Appleton and St. Bernard's High School in Fitchburg. She was a member of the Mascenic Senior Citizens and enjoyed traveling. She was predeceased by her husband, Lauri Richard Johnson,. Family members include two sons, Richard L. Johnson of Palm Bay., Fla., and Robert Johnson of Rindge; three daughters, Ann J. Read of Milford, Sylvia J. Putnam of Whitefield and Lecanto, Fla., and Barbara J. Holloway of Wagram, N.C.; 15 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. SERVICES: A calling hour will be Tuesday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Fournier Funeral Home, 12 High St., Greenville. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in West Cemetery, Ashby, Mass.
