HENDERSON, ELSIE ELLEN - The death of Elsie Ellen Henderson widow of Ronald E. Henderson occurred October 28, 2006 at the age of 76 years. Born August 17, 1930 at Cambridge, Queens County, N.B. the daughter of the late Bruce E. Henderson and E. Thelma (White) Henderson. She spent most of her childhood and early adult life in Henderson Settlement, Queens county where she taught for a short time at the one-room school in Henderson Settlement and later moved with her husband and family to Saint John. Shortly after the death of her husband in 1993, Elsie decided to offer her time as a volunteer, working with Meals-on-Wheels, Romero House and the South End Community Food Bank also serving on the Board of Directors of Romero House and the South End Community Food Bank. A member of Germain Street United Baptist Church, she regularly attended services and served on several church committees. A quiet, modest person by nature, Elsie was hard working, devoted to her family, and well respected by all who knew her. Her passing comes as a severe blow to her son David; daughter, Cathy Richards (Mark); two beloved grandchildren, Isaiah and Diane Richards; one brother, Joseph Henderson (Betty); one sister, Audrey Shillington (John); and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Resting at Fundy Funeral Home 230 Westmorland Rd. (646-2424) with visitations from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday, October 30th, 2006. Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, October 31, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. Following cremation interment will be at the Henderson Family Cemetery, Henderson Settlement at a later date.
