MANCHESTER -- Elsie G. Davis-Dawson, 92, died June 9, 2010, at Mount Carmel Nursing Home.She was born June 22, 1917, in Auburn, to William and Lillian (Lillis) Davis. She grew up in Auburn and came to Manchester entering grade three at the former Ash Street School. For awhile she resided in Belmont, and Portland, Maine, before returning to Manchester where she had lived for 70 years.She worked for 27 years as a secretary for H.P. Hood Co., and until age 85, she had also been a self-employed caregiver to the elderly. She was a member of Bedford Community Church and the Rebekkah Lodge, Pansy 90 of Manchester.She enjoyed writing poetry, spending time with her grandchildren and was known for her remarkable memory.IN HER LIFE: Mrs. Davis-Dawson's family includes her daughter, Judith G. Rouleau and her husband, Louis, of Bedford; three grandchildren, Michael Rouleau and his wife, Kym, Greg Rouleau and his wife, Ceceilia, and Mary DuBois and her husband, Joseph; eight great-grandchildren, Jarrod, Carter and Zachery Rouleau, Joseph and Emily DuBois and Elizabeth, Brett and Olivia Rouleau; and two nieces, Eleanor Mongovan and Caroline Kimball.She was preceded in death by two brothers, Alden Davis and William Davis and one sister Esther Joyal.SERVICES: Calling hours will be Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Goodwin Funeral Home, 607 Chestnut St., Manchester. The funeral service will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Bedford Community Church, 56 Old Bedford Road. The Rev. Dr. David Midwood will officiate.
