Eloise Brown Smith, age 69, of 357 Randall Drive, the widow of John Wesley "Bill" Smith, died Thursday, March 3, 2005, at her son's home. Born in Newberry, she was a daughter of the late Selwyn Esby Brown and Vidalia Brown Shearon. Mrs. Smith was a former employee of Clinton Mills and was a member of Lydia Baptist Church. Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Beverly Smith of Laurens; daughter and son-in-law, Patti and Frank L. Pace of Laurens; sisters-in-law, Amanda Williamson Brown of Blythewood and Doris Smith Lewis of Plant City, Fla., and Maxine Smith Hicks of Tampa, Fla.; brother-in-law, Walter Marvin Smith of Plant City, Fla.; grandchildren, Amy Gilliam Gilstrap, Kelly A. Gilliam, James W. Smith, and Tiffney N. Smith; and great-grandchildren, James W. Smith II, Carly M. Gilstrap and Abby L. Gilstrap. She was predeceased by a brother, Esby Walter Brown. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 6, 2005, at Gray Funeral Home Chapel of Clinton, with burial in Rosemont Cemetery in Newberry. The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Laurens County, P.O. Box 178, Clinton SC 29325. The family will be at the home of her son, Mike Smith, 110 Charles St., Laurens. Gray Funeral Home of Clinton.
