ObituaryELOISE F. SMITHEloise F. Smith, 80, of 18 St. Joseph's Lane, died Monday, May 12, 2003, at Cayuga Medical Center. Born November 9, 1922 in Ithaca, she was the daughter of the late George and Florence Carter Malone.Mrs. Smith was one of Ithaca's first meter maids. She was later employed for many years by Angelo Dry Cleaners. She had been a member of the former State Street Methodist Church and was also a longtime member of the Ithaca Moose Club Auxiliary.Mrs. Smith is survived by her husband of 60 years, Kenneth E. Smith; son, Art (Mary-Jeanne) Smith of Hopatcong, NJ; granddaughter, Michele (Edward) Bielawski of Landing, NJ; great-grandson, Daniel Bielawski; sisters-in-law, Anna Halkyard, Sophia Malone; and nephew, Ronald (Liz) Rowdocker. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Smith was also predeceased by a son, William Smith, who died in 1974; and brothers, George and Emerson Malone.A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, May 15, at the E.C. Wagner Funeral Home of Ithaca. Rev. Earl Andrews will officiate. Friends may call from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial in Grove Cemetery, Trumansburg, will be private.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, or to the American Heart Association.
