Ellen Mary Louise (Masse) Erickson73, of Saskatoon, SK, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer on February 25, 2017. A Mass will be held Friday, March 3, 10:30 a.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 114 Kingsmere Place, Saskatoon. Ellen was born April 15, 1943 and raised in Vancouver. She moved to Saskatoon in 1981 and fell in love with the prairies. Ellen had a lengthy academic career. Her achievements included a Bachelor of Arts and an Honours Physiology from UBC. She earned her Masters of Health Sciences at U of T and studied further at U of A in Public Administration Studies. She worked as a teacher, in biochemistry labs and in Public Health in Saskatchewan and Alberta. She retired early and spent over 20 years volunteering with health initiatives and refugees. She served on the Red Cross Board and the Sponsorship Agreement Holders Council affecting national policy. She sponsored refugees through her church and helped to set up the Office of Migration for the Saskatoon Roman Catholic Diocese. Ellen was preceded in death by her brother John and his son James. She is survived by her 3 children Lee-Anne (Jeff); Chris (Lana) Dasha; Colleen (Paul) Max. Her younger siblings Bill (Kathy) Melissa, Winston, Sean; sister-in-law Charlene, Johnny, Mary Ann, Michael, Margaret Ann, Patrick, Matthew; Margaret (Jim) Aaron, Daniel; Paul; Joan (Lloyd) Rebecca, Simon, Emma.
