Retired, Music Teacher, RCBOE AUGUSTA, Ga. - Ellen 'Ellie' Gibson, of Augusta, entered into rest Monday evening, December 15, 2003, at St. Joseph Hospital. A native of Little Rock, Arkansas, she had resided in the Augusta area since 1965. Mrs. Gibson had taught music in the Richmond County Public School System for approximately 25 years before retiring in the late 1980s. She had also been Church Organist and Choir Director at Reid Memorial Presbyterian Church and for other local congregations in the Augusta area, over the years. She is survived by one son, Peter Gibson, Kingsport, Tenn; one daughter, Martha Gibson Chinery, Sykesville, Md.; four grandchildren, Patrick, Kristopher, Erin and Harry Chinery. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, December 18, 2003, at the Church of the Good Shepherd with Reverend Andy Menger and Pastor Robert Fain, officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2623 Washington Road, Augusta, GA 30904.
