Clay, Ellen Farr Robinson Honeoye Falls: Ellen Farr Robinson Clay, 79, passed away on March 27, 2008 in her home. Ellen was born January 11, 1929 in Philadelphia, PA to the late Agnes Clement and William Robinson. Her step-father was C. Jared Ingersoll, also of Philadelphia. She graduated in 1946 from Chatham Hall, in VA, attended Vassar College, the Sorbonne in Paris and Columbia University, graduating in 1948 with a BA in history from Columbia. She married Langdon Frothingham Clay September 17, 1949. Together they had six children. Ellen loved to travel with her husband and family--especially in France and England. She was an avid reader, gardener and closely followed local and national politics. A life-long Democrat, she was a volunteer at poll booths for many years and cared deeply about issues of social injustice. She also gave generously to educational, health and local charitable organizations. She was an accomplished horsewoman and active in the Mendon Pony Club; much to her enjoyment, her daughters and granddaughters share her love of horses. In addition to her husband of 59 years, she is survived by five of her children: Daniel Clay, Michael Clay, Emily Clay, Laura Clay and Martha Clay Sullivan; 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her daughter Sandra Clay Rowell. A memorial reception for family and friends will be held May 17th, 10-12 noon, at the Merton H. Kays Funeral Home Inc., 59 Monroe St, Honeoye Falls, NY. Burial private, Honeoye Falls Cemetery.
