Elizabeth W. (Betsy) Jones, 84, died in Flagler Hospital on March 26, 2010. Mrs. Jones was born in Ashland, Ky., on Dec.6, 1925. Her early years were spent in Dayton and Columbus, Ohio, Philadelphia, Pa., and Brooklyn, N.Y. She lived in St. Augustine since 2001.Mrs. Jones graduated from Stephens College in Columbia, Mo., and Barnard College in New York, N.Y. Mrs. Jones worked for many years as a social worker in the public school system in Indianapolis, Ind., where she lived for 43 years. After retirement, she and her husband Clinton moved to St. Augustine, where she and her family had visited for several winters. Mrs. Jones was involved with many activities in St. Augustine, including the Trinity Episcopal Parish Vestry, Trinity Episcopal Parish Endowment, St. Francis House and the St. Johns County Library. She was a former member of the Junior League of Indianapolis, Ind.Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Clinton Story Jones, and son, Douglas Story Jones. She is survived by two children, Kimberly (Hugh) Blake of New London, Conn., Larry (Brenda) Jones of Charlotte, N.C., and daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Jones of Indianapolis, Ind. She has six surviving grandchildren and three great grandchildren.A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 30, at Trinity Episcopal Parish in St. Augustine.
