-->Elizabeth Vaughn Brown SPARTANBURG, SC-- Elizabeth Vaughn Brown, 86, formerly of Spartanburg, passed away Friday, March 7, 2008, in Gastonia, NC. Born October 27, 1921, in Union, SC, she was the daughter of the late William I. and Eva Lee Vaughn and the wife of the late Cary S. Brown. She graduated from Spartanburg General Hospital School of Nursing and retired as Head Nurse of the Recovery Room after 26 years of service. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, and after retirement she volunteered for Mobile Meals. Survivors include a sister, Doris Glenn of Spartanburg; a son, Ralph Brown and wife Ann Brown of Villa Rica, GA; two daughters, Nancy Wingo and husband David Wingo of Gastonia, NC, and Martha Bramblett and husband Don Bramblett of Spartanburg; six grandchildren, Jim Wingo and wife Mandi of Sherrills Ford, NC, Susan Wingo Mitchell and husband Andy of Gastonia, NC, Chip Ryan of Simpsonville, Matt Ryan of Green Creek, NC, Rusty Brown of Douglasville, GA, and Keri Brown Pitts and husband Mike of Dallas, GA; and four great-grandchildren, Anna Mitchell, Garrett Mitchell, Sarah Wingo, and Tanner Pitts. She was predeceased by a brother, William Ralph Vaughn; and a sister, Frances McDaniel. The family will receive friends from 1:30-2:30 PM Sunday, March 9, 2008, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Cryptside services will follow at 3:00 PM at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Complex conducted by the Rev. Susan Moorefield Newton. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mobile Meals Service, PO Box 461, Spartanburg, SC 29304. The family is at their respective homes.
