BEALS - Elizabeth "Lizzie" Smith, 12, went to be with the Lord Oct. 24, 2009, comforted by the hands of her loving family, at a Bangor hospital. She was born March 26, 1997, in Machias. Lizzie enjoyed long walks with Nan, rides with "the crew," visiting the llama farm, tee ball, Girl Scouts, swimming, ball games, to swing and her music. Some of Lizzie's favorite things were Diet Coke, M&M's, hot dogs and "doodles." She loved feeding the neighborhood "good pups." She was an avid collector of pins, which became her signature. During her sickness in 2006, The Pins of Love Campaign collected hundreds of pins and hope to continue to collect in Lizzie's memory. She will be remembered by all for her sense of humor. Lizzie has family worldwide and she left her handprint on everyone's heart with her bear hugs, high fives and "I love you's." She is survived by her mother, Tammy Carver; father, Leon Smith Jr.; brothers and sister, Dwayne Parkes and his son, Jordane Parkes, RoseMarie Carver, Marcus Smith, and Leon Smith III; her Gar and Nan, Duane and Dorrene Carver; great-grandparents, Guy and Ruth Carver Jr.; uncle, Cary Carver Sr. "Uncle Bubba" and his wife, Aunt Ruby, and their children, Paiden and Cary Carver Jr.; aunt, Nicole Carver "Kikki"; two special friends, Warren Peabody and Jannie Caler; her extended family at ELC; many aunts, uncles cousins and friends too numerous to mention national and international. She was predeceased by her grandfather and grandmother, Leon Sr. and Hyacinth Smith. A time of remembrance will be celebrated 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1, at Jonesport Elementary School, where immediately after the service the family invites everyone for a time of sharing fond memories and stories.
