FRANKLINVILLE - Elizabeth ""Betty"" Rogers, of Cadiz Road, passed away at her home following a long illness. Born Aug. 31, 1916, in Olean, she was a daughter of Edwin and Maude Truscott. On May 27, 1936, in Ellicottville, she married R.J. Rogers, who passed away Aug. 4, 1971.Mrs. Rogers was a warm, generous and loving person with her own special sense of humor. She attended Ten Broeck Academy in Franklinville. She was employed at the Curtiss-Wright of Buffalo, where she worked on World War II war planes from 1943 to 1945. She also worked at Electrical Reactance in Franklinville from 1950 to 1954.In 1954, Betty and her husband ""R.J."" opened Rogers Self Service grocery store on the west side of Park Square, Franklinville. In 1956, Rogers Self Service moved to a larger location a 5 Park Square. In 1965, the family business again moved to 17 S. Main St. and was turned into a new supermarket operating under the name Rogers Super Duper. They also opened Rogers Laundromat, adjoining the new supermarket. Betty retired in 1982, with her three daughters continuing with the family business.Betty loved to play golf and was a past member of the Ischua Valley Country Club. She loved to gamble and was an avid visitor to the Seneca Allegany Casino and the IOOB #1517 of Franklinville. She was also a member of VFW Post 9487 of Franklinville and the Franklinville Conservation Club.Surviving are three daughters, Kay (Paul) Jewett, Barbara Grossman and Gail Rogers, all of Franklinville; five grandchildren, Deborah Cosenza of Springville, Jeffery Jewett of Franklinville, Brett (Michelle) Grossman, Brice (Beth) Grossman of Franklinville and Bryan (Cindy) Grossman of Lockport; seven great-grandchildren, Chad and Lindsay Cosenza, Stacy (Ryan) Fitzgerald, Jay and Bailey Grossman and R.J. and Libby Jewett; a great-great-granddaughter, Jordyn; and several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, June Bennett and Helen Clement, both of Franklinville; and her son-in-law, Brent Grossman of Franklinville.Friends may gather with the family from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Babbitt & Easton Funeral Home, 7 N. Main St., Franklinville, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday (Sept. 25, 2012). Officiating will be the Rev. Jason Cashing, pastor of the Presbyterian Church of Franklinville. Burial will follow in Mount Prospect Cemetery in Franklinville.Memorials may be sent to the Franklinville Volunteer Fire Department ambulance fund, P.O.
