Elizabeth Grant Pitts, 85, loving wife of Leonard T. Pitts, died Thursday, March 13, 2008. Born in Spartanburg County, she was the daughter of the late Daniel P. and Exxie Stephens Grant. Mrs. Pitts was retired from Milliken & Company and was a member of Marietta First Baptist Church and the Flora Barnette Sunday School Class. Surviving in addition to her husband is a daughter, Theresa Corley and her husband Joel; granddaughter, Katie Elizabeth Corley, all of Lexington, S.C.; brothers, James P. Grant of Shreveport, La., and Lewis Grant of Marietta; and sister, Ruth Brady of Travelers Rest. She was predeceased by sisters, Lillie Mae Owens, Marie Duncan, and Ruby Finley; and brother, John Grant. Visitation will be Saturday, March 15, 2008, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest. The funeral service will be Sunday, March 16, 2008, at Marietta First Baptist Church at 3 p.m. Mrs. Pitts will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Grand View Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Marietta First Baptist Church, Two Will Do Mission Fund, P.O. Box 337, Marietta, SC 29661. The family will be located at the home of the sister, 7 Valley Road, Travelers Rest, SC.
