Elizabeth (Gunther) OwensFormerly of BinghamtonElizabeth Owens, 45, passed away on Monday, November 17, 2003, at the Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre, after a very courageous but brief battle with cancer. She was predeceased by her mother, Mary (Drahos), in 1983. She is survived by her husband and best friend, Rick Owens, Athens, Pa.; one stepdaughter, Stephanie Owens, Sayre; one stepson, Eric Owens, Waverly; two sisters, Mary Tripp, Binghamton, Theresa Ward, Boca Raton, Fla.; one brother and sister-in-law, Mark and Candace Gunther, Kirkwood; her father, Hugo Gunther, Binghamton; also nieces and nephews, Kelly and Nicholas Gunther, Lucas and Shane Tripp, Taylor and Haley Ward; and mother-in-law, Rena Post, who took special care of Elizabeth in her final days; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Elizabeth graduated from North High in 1976 and was employed by Datros in Endicott.Funeral services will be held at the Sedlock Funeral Home, Inc., 161 Clinton St., Binghamton, Friday at 9:30 a.m., and 10 a.m. at St. Cyril & Method Church, where a Funeral Mass will be offered. Burial will be in Slovak Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that those wishing may make memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society, 31 Adams Ave., Endicott, N.Y. 13760. May you rest in peace in the kingdom of our Lord, Jesus Christ. May you be welcomed into the loving arms of our dearly departed mother.
