She was born September 6, 1918, to Andrew and Elizabeth Zay in Springfield, Missouri. Liz was a lifelong resident of Springfield and graduate of Springfield (Central) High School. Liz was married to Francis "Speck" Jordan for 29 years. Their union produced one son, Dr. Jim Jordan of Springfield. Liz is survived by her son, Jim; sister, Virginia Blumenstock; granddaughter, Lindsay Jordan, and grandson, Landon Jordan. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brothers, William Zay and Andrew Zay; and sisters, Sophia Engelking and Louise Scroggs. In her youth, Liz was a decorated track athlete, even qualifying for the 1936 Olympics as a sprinter. She enjoyed an active life, as well as being a homemaker and rancher. She was a lifelong member of St. John's United Church of Christ. Liz loved gardening and her family, but most of all her precious Lindsay and Landon.A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2014, at 1:30 PM at the Walnut Lawn Funeral Home Chapel, Springfield, Missouri. Liz will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband in Clear Creek Cemetery, Greene County, Missouri.
