Elizabeth May "Betty" Gower Hall passed away on Sunday, Oct. 27, 2013, at her daughter's home in St. Augustine Beach, Fla. She was born a leap year baby on Feb. 29, 1936, in Scottdale, Pa., daughter of Elizabeth May Kelly Gower and John David Gower. She graduated from Scottdale High School in 1954 and was active on her class reunion committee. She was tickled that she could lunch with her high-school friends this past July.Betty was an avid reader, quilter and skilled seamstress. Her grandmother Ida Kelly Fortney taught her to sew at an early age. Betty passed that talent onto her daughters.In addition to her parents, Betty is predeceased by her brothers John D. "Dutch" Gower and Charles D. "Chuck" Gower. She is survived by her sister, Janet E. Kurowsky of Dunlevy, Pa.; her children: Vicki L. Hall of St. Augustine, Fla.; E. Suzanne "Suzie" Corigliano of Finleyville, Pa., and husband Keith; Raymond L. "Buzz" Hall Jr. of Avenue, Md., and wife Patricia, and Alan J. Hall of Hortense, Ga.; grandchildren: Heather Duncan of Greenville, S.C., and husband Kevin, Jarred Grabiak of Greensburg, Pa., and wife Rachel, Emily and Nicholas Hall of Avenue, Md.; James and Maylynn Hall of Hortense, Ga., and great-grandchildren Kaitlyn and Blake Duncan and Hailey Grabiak.Betty worshiped at Shores United Methodist Church in St. Augustine and was an integral part of their Prayer Bear Mission. She sold pumpkins at the church's pumpkin patch the day before she died.The family would like to thank Betty's caretakers from Coastal Home Care and the volunteers who delivered her meals.Services will be held at the Frank Kapr Funeral Home in Scottdale, Pa.. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Shores United Methodist Church, 724 Shores Blvd, St. Augustine, FL 32086.
