Elizabeth "Lib" Harrington NEW ZION - Mrs. Elizabeth Louise "Lib" Carter Harrington, 93, widow of Jacob Kinder Harrington, passed away Saturday, January 17, 2015, at Silver Bluff Village in Canton, NC. Mrs. Harrington was born February 6, 1921, in Williamsburg County, a daughter of the late Richard D. Carter and Julius Annie Scott Carter. She was the Valedictorian of the Class of 1938 at Kingstree High School and retired in 1982 as bookkeeper for the Williamsburg County Treasurer's office. Mrs. Harrington was a member of Midway Presbyterian Church, where she was active in the Presbyterian Women. She loved gardening, fishing, and playing cards with her Oakdale friends. Surviving are: 2 daughters, Ellen Cantey, of Kingstree and Ann H. (Sanford) Roberson, of Lake Junaluska, NC; a son, Ricky (JoAnn) Harrington, of New Zion; 7 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and several great great grandchildren. In addition to her husband Jacob and her parents, Mrs. Harrington was preceded in death by 3 sisters and 1 brother. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, January 20, 2015, in Midway Presbyterian Church, with burial in the church cemetery.
