FLORENCE - Elizabeth "Betty" (Lavallee) Devlin Cummings, 79, of North Maple St. died Friday at Cooley Dickinson Hospital. Born in Newark, N.J. Feb. 14, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Elizabeth (Griffin) Lavallee. She graduated from Northampton High School and work as a medical secretary for Dr. Abel for many years. Betty was an avid Red Sox fan who enjoyed going for walks, knitting, reading and especially spending time with her family. She leaves her former husband George Cummings, children Colleen Basile of Westhampton, Patrick Devlin of Greenfield, Sharon Matrishon of Florence, Elizabeth "Ibbish" Cummings of Holyoke and Michael Cummings of Austin, Texas. A brother William Lavallee of Riviera Beach, Florida and a sister Martha Dunne of Northampton; 4 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held on Wednesday with an In House Service 10 am at the Czelusniak Funeral Home of Northampton. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.
