Elizabeth (Bette) Fearon Johnson passed away at her home after a short illness on August 14, 2013. She was 88. Mrs Johnson was born and raised in Dansville, NY to her late parents John Joseph and Helen Byron Fearon. She lived in New Britain, CT with her husband Samuel A. Johnson until his passing in 2006. In 2007, she moved to Needham, MA. She attended Nazareth College and graduated from Columbia University in 1948 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. She taught nursing at the Rhode Island Hospital. Later in life she graduated from Central Connecticut State University with a Masters Degree in History. She also studied piano at The Eastman School of Music. Bette loved family, history, music, reading and staying abreast of world and family news. She had a memorable sense of humor and love of life. She is survived by her children Dr. Robert B. Johnson of McLean, VA, Dr. Elizabeth J. Cua of Wellesley, MA, Susan J. Marceau of Boston, MA. William B. Johnson of Shanghai, China, her brother- and sister-in-law Theodore and Nancy Johnson, nine grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Jack Fearon and her aunt, Marie C. Byron. A memorial celebration is planned for Sunday, September 29, 2013 at 1 pm at the New Britain Museum of American Art. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the museum.
