Betty was born in Greenwood , B.C. and grew up with 3 brothers and 2 sisters on a farm in the Okanagan. She was married in 1945 to Gilbert Peters. They lived in Swift Current until Gilbert joined the Air Force in 1950, from then on the family moved to many different places - including to the East, Sydney, N.S., to the West, Holberg, Vancouver Island, to the North, Fort Nelson, B.C. They then settled in Millet, AB where they owned and operated a grocery store. The travel bug continued as they also spent 17 winters in Phoenix , Arizona; while summers were spent in Mayo, Yukon and Sherwood Park, AB.Betty is survived by her 4 children - Dianne (Reinhard), Linda (Alvin), Gerald (Lynda) and Birdina (Ken), along with her 11 grandchildren - Kevin (Nicole) , Kim (Richard), Shannon (Will), Shelley (Kevin) , Sherri (Marshall), Tammy, Stephanie, Robyn, Echo (Eric), Grayson, and Aubree (Jamie) and 13 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, 2 sisters and one brother. She was special to her Bingo, card-playing, and knitting friends and will be missed by all.Thank you to those who took special care of her over the past 2 years in Big Hill Lodge (Cochrane), then 2 months in Foothills Hospital, Peter Lougheed Hospital and for a short time, Bow Crest Care Home (Calgary). A memorial in her honour will be held at Cochrane Country Funeral Home (6, 402 Railway Street West , Cochrane) on Sunday, March 29, 2015 at 3:00 P.M.
