STRAFFORD ; Elizabeth Sawyer Jones, 93, of Jodi Lane and formerly of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., died on Friday, Feb. 22, 2008, at Langdon Place in Dover.Elizabeth was born on Jan. 19, 1915, in Lake Sunapee, N.H., the daughter of Herbert B. and Alys Mae (Guernsey) Sawyer. She graduated from Sunapee High School and later graduated with a degree in Early Childhood Education from Miss Wheelock School in Boston. She married Franklin B. Jones in 1939. She volunteered for 20 years at the East Cooper Regional Medical Center in Mt. Pleasant, S.C. She was a member of the Snee Farm Garden Club, also in Mt. Pleasant. Survivors include her children, Carolyn S. Arvenitis of Strafford, Susan J. Olley and her husband, Donald, of Bowie, Md., and Sarah M. Donaldson of Wayne, N.J.; two grandsons, Christopher P. Arvenitis of Aurora, Colo., and Glen A. Donaldson of Philadelphia, Pa.; four granddaughters, Maria A. Arvenitis of Dover, Kelly D. Bastante of Bloomingdale, N.J., Laura J. Donaldson of Wayne, N.J. and Lisa B. Batchelor of Bellmawr, N.J.; six great-grandchildren, Elizabeth A. Northey of Dover, Joseph F. Bastante and Julia E. Bastante of Bloomingdale, N.J., Benjamin T. Arvenitis and Isabella K. Arvenitis of Aurora, Colo., and Coleman F.L. Batchelor of Bellmawr, N.J. Two nephews and a niece also survive her. Elizabeth was predeceased by her husband, Franklin B. Jones; her parents, Herbert B. and Alys Mae (Guernsey) Sawyer, as well as her sister, Minnie Arnold. "Our heartfelt thanks and appreciation goes out to all the staff that helped to care for our mother at Langdon Place in Dover."There are no calling hours. A private memorial service will be held at a later date, at the convenience of the family.
