Elizabeth J. Crowe of Chapel Hill, NC, the daughter of the late Leo J. and Persie (Mason) Crowe, Sr. of LaFayette, NY, died on April 17, 2014. She was born in Syracuse, NY on January 26, 1921. Betty graduated from Syracuse University as a home economics major and taught in Rochester, NY before moving to Los Angeles where she worked for the gas company demonstrating gas appliances to groups throughout the area, providing them with nutritional and home economics information. After earning her master's degree, she taught home economics courses and also served as a student counselor at Los Angeles Community College. She was granted two sabbaticals during which she took round-the-world trips. After retiring she earned a real estate license and practiced until she moved to Chapel Hill, NC. Betty was a member of St. Thomas More Parish in Chapel Hill and served as a faithful volunteer in several parish ministries. She was predeceased by her brother Leo J. Crowe, Jr. She is survived by her sister, Marion F. Crowe and many friends with whom she shared love and laughter. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at Holy Cross Church, DeWitt, NY on Friday, May 2, 2014 at 11 a.m. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, DeWitt, NY.
