Elizabeth Gail Smith died unexpectedly at her home in Pleasantville, New York, on July 11, 2007. Gail was born on March 14, 1936 to Lewis and Ila Lundy of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. She graduated with a B.A. from the University of Toronto, and also held an Ontario Teachers Certificate from the Ontario College of Education. After leaving University, she was a teacher, and also worked as a flight attendant for Air Canada. She came to the United States in 1967, and has been a resident of Pleasantville since 1973. Her professional career in the United States was with IBM, from which she retired in 1992. Subsequently, she worked part-time for many years at the circulation desk of the Mount Pleasant Library in Pleasantville. Gail is survived by her son, Douglas E. Smith of Mount Kisco, New York; her sister, Judith Powell of Barrie, Ontario; her sister-in-law, Olive Lundy of Etobicoke, Ontario; her nieces, Cheryl and Susan, and her nephews, Christopher, Michael and Stephen. Gail's ashes will be buried alongside her mother at St. John's Anglican Church Cemetery in Toronto. Locally, a Funeral Service will be held for her at St. John's Episcopal Church, 8 Sunnyside Avenue, Pleasantville, at 11:00 AM, on Saturday, July 21st.
