Eleanora Mary Punton (nee Betz) Peacefully at the Notre Dame Hospital on Wednesday, May 16, 2012, Mrs. Eleanora Punton of Rathwell, Manitoba passed away at the age of 91 years. Eleanora leaves to mourn her passing four children: Carole (El) Bonnee of Rathwell, Ron (Doreen) Punton of Winnipeg, Jim (Caren) Punton of Kamloops and Donna Kolly of Notre Dame; 17 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. She also leaves to mourn her passing three sisters: Margaret (Steve) Prokopenko, Rosemarie (Nick) Petz and Pat Saul; one brother Elmer Betz; and numerous nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband George Sr. in 1997, one son George Jr. in 2000, one brother Ted (Hilda) Betz and by one brother-in-law Tom Saul. Eleanora was born in Langenburg, SK on November 5, 1920 on the farm of her parents John and Helena Betz. She met George in Rathwell and they were married in 1942 and together raised five children. She enjoyed gardening, baking, cooking, crocheting, playing bingo and was a whiz at cribbage. Family and children meant everything to Mom. She had a strong faith that sustained her through many trials in her life. Prayers will be held at Adam’s Funeral Home on Friday, May 25, 2012 at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the Rathwell Roman Catholic Church on Saturday, May 26, 2012 at 2 p.m. with interment to follow in the Treherne Catholic Cemetery.
