Southington - Eleanor Y. Smith, 87, wife of the late Stephen J. Smith, died on Monday, Nov. 12, 2007 at the Alzheimer's Resource Center in Southington, after a brief illness. Born in Littleton, N.H., on May 8, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Victor and Leah (Greenwood) Duval. She had resided in Meriden most of her life. She attended schools in Littleton, N.H. Eleanor was a parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Church. She is survived by three daughters, Irene Smith, Diane Buijnarowski and her husband, Gary of Wallingford and Elaine Carr and her husband, Daniel of Elkridge, Maryland; three sons, Stephen Smith-Mysatyukow and his wife, Rosemary of Meriden, Phillip Smith of Auburn, Mass., and Daniel Smith and his wife, Judith of Middlefield; 21 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; one brother, Norman Duval of Dorchester, N.H.; and many nieces and nephews. Eleanor was predeceased by six brothers. The funeral will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 14, at 9:15 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main St., Meriden, and at 10 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Church. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
