Eleanor Wilson SchenectadyEleanor Gumma Cerniglia Wilson, 88, of The Avenue Nursing and Rehabilitation Centre died Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at the nursing centre. Eleanor was born in Schenectady on May 18, 1925, daughter of the late Francesco and Mary Cerniglia. Eleanor was predeceased by her husband, Edward H. S. Wilson in late 2000. She lived a life full of creativity and never lacked the keen ability to tell people how it was. Eleanor would without blinking give you the shirt off her back. She will be greatly missed by her family. She is survived by her daughter, Kathleen (Alfred) Katz of Schenectady; her grandchildren, Alfie (Julie) Katz of Schenectady, and Nicholas (Danielle) Katz also of Schenectady. Eleanor had many great times with her great-grandchildren who thought the world of her and always called her GG. They include Riley, 7, Brody, 5, Kaya, 4, Rory, 3, and Karly, 6 months. Also survived by her adopted granddaughter, Lisa Leggiero of Galway. Our thanks for all the loving care and support Lisa has provided to help our family. She guided Eleanor through all the years and life changes she had to endure right to the end. Because of this Eleanor always loved her like her own. Also survived by her brother, Vincent Cerniglia of Glenville who affectionately called her squeaky; and sister, Rose Blessing, formerly of Scotia. Predeceased by siblings, Salvatore Cerniglia of Schenectady, Joseph Cerniglia of Florida, and Concetta Taft of Saratoga. Eleanor enjoyed her bonding times with all her nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews. She had great pride for her family and loved them all dearly. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service which will be conducted Saturday morning at 11 at the Gleason Funeral Home, 730 Union Street. Calling hours will be Saturday morning from 9 until 11 at the funeral home. Interment will be in Parkview Cemetery, Schenectady.
