WILSON, Eleanor Eleanor, the elegant dancing queen, passed away at home on Monday, April 11, 2011, surrounded by the love of family. Throughout her 10-month illness, she chose to celebrate life, never complained and enjoyed the company of good friends and family. She inspired everyone with her courage, spunk, humour and sense of style. Born in Belfast, N. Ireland, on April 20, 1944, Ellie was always the belle of the ball - in fashion and on the dance floor. A few hours after marrying her sweetheart, David Wilson, the two boarded ship and emigrated to Canada in 1965. They settled in Toronto for three years before moving to Fort Churchill, Manitoba, where David became a popular teacher at a school for Inuit and Ellie raised two young daughters, Janet and Jennifer. The family moved to Ottawa in 1973 and made hundreds of friends in their adopted city. Ellie was beloved by her husband, daughters, grandchildren, Hannah, Logan, Patrick (deceased), Benjamin and Emerson and son-in-laws Kevin Raffler and David Hadden. She was a loving sister to David (deceased) and Philip O'Brien (Anne, Emma and Martin) and Patricia (Donnie) Henshaw and family and doting daughter to Elinor O'Brien (deceased). She will be deeply missed by her friends and relatives in N. Ireland, Scotland and England, her dear friends from Chesterton Drive and Cullen Court and her amazing pals at Britannia Yacht Club, as well as the old Queensview crowd. Ellie, the social butterfly, was a top model during the 70s and 80s, working for Canadian designers and modelling at shows in the capital. She spent more than two decades working in the fragrance and cosmetic industry in Ottawa. Over recent months, Ellie missed all the gossip, as well as her colleagues and customers. As an expression of sympathy, donations to Camp Trillium (camptrillium.com) in Eleanor's name would be appreciated. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be announced shortly.
