NEWARK - Eleanor T. Hale, 99, died on Saturday (March 21, 2015) at the DeMay Living Center.Family and friend may call from 1 to 3 p.m. on Wednesday (March 25) at the Paul L. She had been the head cook at the Bedford Hills Women's Correctional Facility and at the Newark State School, retiring in 1972. Eleanor had been a member of the Amitie Chapter, Order of Eastern Star. She loved to quilt and has made quilts for almost all of her family. Eleanor had earned several ribbons for her quilts at the Florida State Fair.She is survived by her three sons, Robert "Red" (friend Connie Frank) Thomson of Newark, Edward (Gail) Thomson of Raleigh, N.C., and Stephen (Marilyn) Thomson of Williamson; 11 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter; several nieces and nephews.Eleanor was predeceased by her husband Gerald Hale, four brothers and six sisters.www.murphyandsons funeralhome.com
