Eleanor Harris Smith, 73, widow of Fred H. Smith, died peacefully in her home in Clemson on Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2005.She was born in Athens, Ga., on May 10, 1932, and was the daughter of the late Joseph Cook and Myrtle Herring Harris. Eleanor graduated from Athens High School in 1945. She was employed at Clemson University in the Forestry Department as Staff Assistant from 1966 to 1982. She was a member of the Clemson United Methodist Church. She was a generous and well-loved lady, who will be missed greatly by her family, friends, church members, and community.She is survived by her four daughters, Kathryn S. Overstreet of Clemson, S.C., Patricia S. Duelfer and husband, Bob, of Old Tappan, N.J., Rebecca S. Rodgers and husband, Eric, of Central, S.C., and Deborah S. Fowler and husband, Jim, of Vicksburg, Miss.; a sister, Virginia Harris Schultz of Athens, Ga.; a brother, Jack Harris of Athens, Ga.; and six grandchildren, Brandy and Brittany Fowler, Perry and Jessica Duelfer, Forrest and Heather Rodgers, and Melanie Collins and husband, Lee Brian Collins, of Welwyn, UK.Funeral services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Clemson United Methodist Church, with Reverend Paul Hutchison officiating. Pallbearers will be Jim Fowler, Eric Rodgers, Forrest Rodgers, Robert Duelfer, Perry Duelfer, and Kerry Pardue, with Jack Harris being the honorary pallbearer. Interment will follow at Old Stone Church Cemetery. Visitation will be tonight from 7 to 9 p.m. at Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home.Memorials may be made to Clemson United Methodist, 300 Frontage Road, Clemson, SC 29631; or to the charity of one's choice.Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home, Central-Clemson Commons, is assisting the family with the arrangements.
