Eleanor Pearl Walker, 88, of Rutland, died April 4, 2009, at Rutland Regional Medical Center, following a brief illness.She was born April 22, 1920, in New Bedford, Mass., the daughter of Joseph and Bertha (Vera) Desjardins.She graduated in 1938 from Dartmouth (Mass.) High School.On Sept. 3, 1938, she married Ralph W. Walker.In Rochester, Mass., Mrs. Walker was a member of First Congregational Church, a founding member of Rochester Historical Society and a former Brownie troop leader.She was artistic and enjoyed refinishing furniture. Survivors include her husband of Rutland; four daughters, Cynthia Underhill, Lorna Walker, both of Rochester, Mass., Sheila Andrews of Fairhaven, Mass., and Charlene Walker of North Clarendon; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. The memorial service will be held at a later date with burial in North Rochester Cemetery in Rochester, Mass.Memorial contributions may be made to Rochester Historical Society, PO Box 171, Rochester, MA 02770.Arrangements are under the direction of the Aldous Funeral and Cremation Service in Rutland.
