White, Eleanor M. GHENT Eleanor M. White, 88, of Ghent, died Tuesday, February 26, 2008 at Albany Memorial Hospital. Born June 10, 1919 in Queens, she was the daughter of the late George and Mere (Kavalauskas) Akelaitis. Mrs. White was the office manager for her husband, Dr. Algird F. White in Philmont, who predeceased her in 1994. She was a member and past officer of the Columbia Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and communicant of the Sacred Heart Church in Philmont. Mrs. White's top priority in life was her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Surviving are five children, Lynore White Carnes and her husband Bruce of Springfield, Va., Algird F. White Jr. and his wife Barbara of Menands, Richard A. White and his wife Kathleen of Ghent, Diane White Calder and her husband Stephen of Bryn Mawr, Pa. and George T. White of Rensselaer; 12 grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. in addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her brother, Peter Akelaitis. Visiting hours are 1-2 p.m. Friday at the Bates & Anderson - Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home, 110 Green St., Hudson. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ghent Food Pantry, c/o Ghent Town Hall, P.O. Box 98, Ghent, NY 12075.
