North Stonington - Eleanor M. (Morrison) Johnson, 87, of Cossaduck Hill Road, North Stonington, passed away on Friday, Dec. 20, 2013, at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital, New London.Eleanor was born in Amagansett, N.Y., on Oct. 18, 1926, the daughter of the late Alan and Dagmar (Hanson) Morrison. She grew up in Mystic and was a graduate of Stonington High School. She worked for many years at the North Stonington Town Hall in the land and tax office. She was a very active democrat in local politics and was on the board of directors at the Pawcatuck Neighborhood Center. She was also involved in local churches.She was predeceased by her husband, Ernest L. Johnson in 1988.She is survived by eight children, Eleanor Wade of Tennessee, Jennifer Johnson of Budapest, Hungary, Randall Johnson of Boston, Mass., Dennis Johnson of Voluntown, Wendy Anderson of Florida, Ernest Johnson Jr. of Norwich, Christopher Johnson of Canterbury and Melissa Staebner of North Carolina; many grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013, at North Stonington Congregational Church, Main Street, North Stonington.
