Eleanor (Crooker) Redick Johnson Artist and 'The Blueberry Lady' 99, formerly of Lexington, MA died Friday July 18, 2014 at the Courville Nursing Home in Nashua, NH. She was the wife of the late Harold W. Johnson who died Feb. 21, 2012 after 25 years of marriage and the late Hugh D. Redick who died in 1972 after 30 years of marriage. Born in Boston, MA she was the daughter of the late Warren and Nellie Crooker. She was educated in the Boston School System and graduated from Hyde Park High School with the class of 1932. She graduated from the Massachusetts College of Art with the class of 1936. A resident of Lexington, MA for most of her life, Eleanor was affectionately known as "The Blueberry Lady" of Adams Street. She and her husband Hugh planted and grew blueberries on the Redick Farm, in Lexington, that is still there today. She was a loving devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a member of the Hancock United Church of Christ for over 60 years. When she moved to New Hampshire in 2007, she became a member of The First Church in Nashua. She also was a member of the Lexington Arts & Crafts Society and the Painters Guild in Lexington. She did watercolor paintings of many local homes, historical buildings as well as landscapes and still life paintings. She is survived by her son, George Redick and his wife, Karen Lindbo of Windsor, VT; three daughters, Carolyn Javernick and her husband Carl of Canon City, CO, Susan Wayne and her husband David of Nashua, NH and Joy Redick and Fred Brady of Hollister, CA; four grandchildren, Joy Farmer, Christine Pimental, Becki Guion and Catherine Kolar; ten great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Eleanor was predeceased by her granddaughter Cynthia Javernick and two sisters, Elsie Delo and Virginia Moore. Her Memorial services will be October 12, 2014 Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at the Hancock United Church of Christ 1912 Massachusetts Ave. Lexington, MA. Burial was in the Westview Cemetery, Lexington, MA.
