JOHNSON, Eleanor (Ellie) Winifred (nee Ginter) September 2, 1925 December 28, 2005 Ellie passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her daughter Wendy Johnson, son-in-law Doug Abrahamson, son Michael Johnson, daughter-in-law Cynthia Johnson, much loved grandson Matthew Johnson and special friend and support worker Jodi Robertson. She will also be missed by her sister Irma Bublitz, brother Ralph Ginter, and many other relatives and friends. Ellie was predeceased by her mother Elsa Ginter, father Edwald Ginter, step-mother Alice Ginter, son Brian John Johnson, and loving husband of 47 years Harold John (Rusty) Johnson. Born in Kiev Russia, Ellie immigrated to Canada when she was five settling in Vancouver. In 1952, she became a registered nurse graduating from Vancouver General Hospital. In 1957, Ellie married the love of her life and over the next 48 years raised their three children, worked alongside her husband in their business ventures and mastered the arts of sewing, needlework, knitting, cooking, canning, just to name a few. She contributed to many social and community charities and was a longtime member of P.E.O. We will deeply miss your gentle soul, indomitable spirit and compassionate heart. We love you; you will be in our hearts and thoughts everyday. A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 21, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. at First Memorial Funeral Chapel at 4725 Falaise Drive, Victoria with a tea and celebration to follow. The family extends special thanks Dr. Ted Rosenberg and Hospice for helping us to fulfill Ellie's wishes to remain at home until her passing. Heartfelt thanks also go out to Jodi Robertson for the love, support and outstanding care she provided for Mom.
