Eleanor Jane Owen Atkinson passed away from our loving family into the arms of the Lord Monday, Dec. 25, 2006. She was 81 years young at heart. Eleanor was born in Redford, Mich., where she attended Redford High School. She married and bore twin daughters, Jane and Jean, who were the light of her life. She returned to school and graduated from Wayne State University in Detroit Mich. She taught home economics at St. Cloud Middle School in Osceola County, Lyman High School and Seminole Community College. Throughout her life Eleanor enjoyed teaching, laughter, loving her family, sewing, knitting, cooking, shopping, learning new dances, wallpapering the kitchen, church events, driving her children to activities, and sharing her warmth with family and friends. Eleanor loved company sharing a home-cooked meal around her table. She was a member of Orange City United Methodist Church in Orange City, who put her in charge of the annual fall pecan fundraiser, and attended St. Matthew's Episcopal Church in Orlando. Eleanor will always be remembered for her grand heart, laughter, cheerfulness, loving spirit and generosity. An adoring Irish "Nonnie," she loved being a devoted grandmother, tirelessly driving Clayton, Amy and Taylor to school functions and cheering for them at sports events, capping off the family evening with a trip to Rodeo Whip or Wendy's. The birth of her youngest grandchild, Robert, in 2005 was a tremendous joy to her heart. Eleanor is survived by twin daughters Jane Louise Fuston Scott and Jean Elizabeth Fuston Smith; grandchildren, Clayton, Amy and Taylor Smith, and Robert Samuel Scott; nephew, Dennis McLain; niece, Kathleen McLain; and best friend, Irma Delgado. A memorial service to celebrate Eleanor's life will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, December 30, 2006, at Allen-Summerhill Funeral Home, 126 E. New York Avenue., Deland FL (386) 734-4663. An Irish Wake open house will be held Sunday, December 31, from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. at Jean's Pink House, 412 Napa Court, Orlando, FL 32817, 407-677-0775.
