Elaine Zerwitz 1925 - 2012 LONGMEADOW - Elaine W. Zerwitz, 87, wife of the late Herbert Zerwitz, passed away on March 9th in West Palm Beach, FL surrounded by her loving family. Born in Greenfield, MA, January 23, 1925. She was the daughter of the late Allan I. Webb and Lillian (Cohen) Webb and sister of the late Jeannette Berman. Elaine was a graduate of the High School of Commerce and retired from Rexnord Manufacturing. Elaine was a member of the Sinai Temple, the JCC, Silver Foxes and Belles and a volunteer at the Jewish Nursing Home. She was an avid Maj Jongg player and passionate knitter who continuously created afghans for her family and friends (affectionately known as "Nanagans"). Elaine enjoyed time with her friends and family, but her true love was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her profound wisdom of life is something that we all depended on. Elaine's strength and independence will forever be remembered by her children, Harriet & Donald Fortin of Longmeadow, Beverly and Robert Lund of Dallas Center, Iowa and Ira and Lisa Zerwitz of East Longmeadow. She also leaves her grandchildren, Eric and Alexandria Zerwitz, Christopher and Sarah Lund, Jeffrey and Robyn Lund, Jeremy Lund, Michelle and William Simes and Adam and Danyelle LaRosa. Elaine will be lovingly remembered as "Bubbie" to her eight great-grandchildren Hailey, Stephanie, Luca, Lola, Lily, Elaine, Eliot and Kalia. She also will be missed by her dear friend Ruth LaRosa Turgeon who was her traveling buddy and lovingly helped care for her during the end of her journey. Funeral services will be held at Ascher-Zimmerman Funeral Home at 11am on Thursday, March 15 with burial in City of Homes Cem. Donations may be made in Elaine's memory to Jewish Geriatric Services, Inc., 770 Converse Street, Longmeadow, MA 01106 as well as the Hospice of Palm Beach County, FL, 5300 East Avenue, West Palm Beach, FL 34407-2387.
