BROWN, Effie (Sendziak) Effie Brown, retired teacher, long-time Leduc resident and farm wife, passed away on July 19, 2006 at the age of 95 years. She was the last surviving child of Ukrainian pioneers Joseph and Margaret (Maria) Sendziak from the Thorsby district. She is survived by her loving family: children, Doreen (Allan) Wronko, Norma Messner, Marian-Rose (Tom) Taylor and Kenneth Brown; grandchildren, Diane, Darrell, Karen, Garnet, David, Douglas, Brenda, Janeen, Alissa, Shandra, Daina, Larina, Michelle, Cathy and Carolyn; great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Allyn (Judy) Burroughs, daughter-in-law, Bonnie Brown, and brother-in-law, Douglas Brown. Effie was predeceased by her husband, George Brown in 1978; son-in-law, Edward Messner in 1987; and daughter, Lorna Burroughs in 1994. Before her 25 years of teaching at Halicz (near Devon), Atlanta (near Colinton) and Leduc, Effie attended Camrose Normal School. The family gives special thanks to Dr. Timothy Trofimuk and staff at Leduc Community Hospital, and Ann Reynar and staff at Planeview Place for their loving and compassionate care during her last years. A private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to charities of choice.
