WHITINSVILLE— Edward Rene St. Andre, a lifelong resident of Linwood died Mon. Aug. 8 at St. Camillus Health Center in Whitinsville after a lengthy illness. He was 78. He leaves his wife of 53 years, Alice (Bonin) St. Andre. Together they owned and operated St.’s Deli & Variety in Uxbridge from 1970 until his retirement in 2003. Mr. St. Andre served in the U.S. Army during World War II and he enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards, and trips to Foxwoods. Besides his wife he leaves a son David St. Andre and his wife Linda; 2 daughters Jean (St. Andre) Chisser and her husband Skip, and Joan St. Andre. He was predeceased by his son Michael and his brother Richard. He will be missed by his 6 grandchildren Tara Connor, Laurel, Lacie and Jesse St. Andre, and Lynne and Andrew Remillard, and his great-grandson Jacob Barber. He also leaves behind his sister Loretta Perkins and numerous nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call at the Tancrell-Jackman Funeral Home, 35 Snowling Rd., Uxbridge on Wed. Aug. 10 from 12 to 2 p.m. and 4 to 8 p.m. His funeral Mass will be held at a time and date to be announced. He will be buried near his son in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Uxbridge. In lieu of flowers the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made in Mr. St. Andre’s name to either St. Camillus Health Center, 447 Hill St., Whitinsville, MA 01588 or the American Cancer Society, Box 102454, Atlanta, GA 30368.
