Edward P. Collins 1960 - 2012 SPRINGFIELD - Edward P. Collins, 52, passed away Mon. Dec. 3, 2012. He was born Oct. 21, 1960 to Dr. James and Jane (Lyons) Collins. Ed was a 1978 graduate of Cathedral High School. He worked for many years at the Holyoke Soldiers' Home. An avid sports fan, especially the Patriots, Ed enjoyed photography, music, guitar and being a DJ. But most of all, he enjoyed family get togethers and attending his nieces and nephews sporting events. Edward was predeceased by a sister, Lisa Collins. Besides his parents, he leaves his four brothers, James of Manchester, CT., Francis of Springfield, Sean of Southwick., Michael of Granby; four sisters, Jane Lintner of Wilbraham, Karen Clark of South Hadley, Moira Zubrowski of Brunswick, GA, and Linda Thibeault of Westfield; his many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Friends are asked to meet on Saturday, December 8, 2012, at Sacred Heart Church, 395 Chestnut St. Springfield to celebrate the Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. for Edward. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be held Friday from 4 to 7 PM at the Sampson's Chapel of the Acres Funeral Home, 21 Tinkham Road, Springfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 516 Carew St., Springfield, MA 01104.
