Edward Verner Collins, 80, of 220 Beth Drive, loving husband of Mary Pruitt Collins, died Tuesday, November 20, 2007. Born in Oconee County, he was a son of the late Lewis and Elvie Shubert Collins. Mr. Collins was retired from Seaboard Coastline Railroad, a faithful member of Wrenn Memorial Baptist Church, where he served as a Sunday School teacher, and he served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. Surviving along with his wife are children, Sherry and Tony Bracken, Kim and Brian Satterfield and Keith and Lynn Collins; grandchildren, Elizabeth and Bryson Jones, Eric Satterfield, Cassondra Collins and Carrie Collins; a great-granddaughter, Emma Blair Jones; a sister, Linda Lay; six brothers, Willard, Charles, Louie, Olin, K.L., and Ralph Collins; and many loved friends. He was predeceased by two sisters, Marylee Cobb and Francine Phylow; and three brothers, George, Jimmy, and Crayton Collins. Visitation will be held Thursday, November 22, 2007, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest. The funeral service will be conducted at Wrenn Memorial Baptist Church on Friday, November 23, 2007, at 12 p.m. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery, West. Memorials may be made to Wrenn Memorial Baptist Church, 19 Sydney Street, Greenville, SC 29609. The family is at the residence.
