ObituaryEdna Mary Miller, 88, of Ft. Myers, formerly a resident of Lehigh Acres since 1962, passed away April 21, 2002, while under the compassionate care of Hope Hospice. Edna was born August 15, 1913 in Austinville, Alabama to the late Martin and Elizabeth (Suit) Wildman. She was employed with the General Service Administration, Washington, D.C. as a clerk specialist before moving to Florida. Edna then worked for The Presbyterian Homes of South Florida and subsequently the Florida Department of HRS at Sunland Training Center, now known as Gulf Coast Center. Edna loved the theatre arts. She was active with the Lehigh Players, Lehigh Theatre, Lehigh Follies, and was a Theatrical Motion Picture Make-Up Artist. In her later years she hosted The News with Edna at The Inn at Cypress Cove. She was also considered by many to be the right arm to the Activities Director at Cypress Cove. Edna was an active member of Christ United Methodist Church, Lehigh Acres; and after moving to Ft. Myers, a member of Tice United Methodist Church. Edna will long be remembered for her caring spirit as she wrote thousands of well wishing letters and cards to people. Edna was preceded in death by her husband Roger Rae Miller in 1985 and her six brothers and sisters. She is survived by two daughters; Frances Porter and husband Donald of Tampa, FL; Louise Goudemond, Johannesburg, South Africa; three granddaughters that she raised; Mary Morgan Kerlagon and husband Steven, Columbia, SC; Alice Caldwell, Versailles, KY; Virginia McKay Chalmers and husband Scott, Ft. Myers, FL; five additional loving grandchildren; Paige, Anthony Rae, Kristen, Iain, Erica, and families; 14 great-grandchildren and 3 great great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law; Lillian Wildman, Bessemer, AL. Friends will be received 6:00 - 8:00 PM Monday (TODAY) April 22, 2002 at the Farley Memorial Funeral Home, 1100 Lee Blvd., Lehigh Acres where a service will be conducted 10:00 AM Tuesday with her pastor, The Reverend Deborah Allen, officiating. Interment will follow in Lee Memorial Park. If desired, memorial contributions in loving memory of Edna may be directed to Hope Hospice, 9470 Health Park Circle, Ft. Myers, FL 33908. Arrangements by Farley Memorial Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider.
