MUNFORD — Funeral services for Mrs. Edna Mae Smith, 69, will be at 11 a.m. Monday, December 8, 2008, at the Cherry Street Church of God, with the Rev. Harold Payne and the Rev. Franklin Walters and the Rev. Gary Smith and the Rev. Charlie Bolt officiating. Burial will follow at the Munford Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 until 8 p.m. this evening at Talladega Funeral Home. Mrs. Smith will also lie in state at the church for one hour before services. Mrs. Smith passed away Thursday, December 4, 2008, at the Trinity BMC in Birmingham. Survivors include her husband, Carl Smith of Munford; one son, The Rev. Gary Smith and wife, Peggy of Millerbrook; one daughter, Tonya Russell of Munford; two sisters; Betty Wheatcraft of Oxford; Joyce Leggett of Talladega; two brothers; James H. Heath of Gadsden; Robert Heath of Anniston; two grandchildren; Dana NaChae Smith, Kayli Smith. Mrs. Smith is preceded in death by her parents; J.T. and Dorothy Heath, two grandchildren; Joshua and Cassie Smith, a brother; Joe Heath, and a sister; Bobbie Griffin.Pallbearers are Tommy Brand, Mike Heath, Bud Curley, Mickey Hurst, Donnie Rader and Julius White. Mrs. Smith was a native and lifelong resident of Talladega. She was a homemaker and retired from Wal-Mart. She was a member of the Cherry Street Church of God.
