Edith-Mary Jackson, née en 1925, fille de Alfred et Annie, est décédée le 12 octobre 2014. Veuillez consulter son avis de décès ici:
Edith Mary Jackson September 11, 1925-October 12, 2014 Vancouver Island was her home; Vancouver was her passion. Born and raised in New Westminster (parents Alfred and Annie Bryer), Edith left microbiology studies at UBC to marry RAF Flt. Lt. Rex Jackson on his return from time as a POW in Germany. After early years in Victoria, they settled in Vancouver and then in Richmond until Rex's death in 1993. Edith moved to a small farm in Metchosin with daughter Lorna Jackson, grandchild Lily Jackson, and Tom Henry. Daughter Elizabeth Jackson and grandchild Jackson Whiting lived nearby. She lost daughter Nancy Patricia in 1971. In 2006, Edith moved to Victoria to become housemate, travel buddy, and loving old friend to Dr. John MacPherson, whose extended family she adored. Edith seeded many passions in us: fine art, literature, horticulture, knitting, Rachel Carson, politics, higher education, sport, the Fraser River and Pacific Ocean, Frank Sinatra and Joseph Boyden, music, science, beauty. She loved words and laughter. She loved dogs and is predeceased by the great Max Jackson. She held difficulty in her teeth and gave it a good hard shake. Our pain can't stand up to the happiness of remembering her spark. We are grateful to the many on 7th floor North, Royal Jubilee who saw to it that Edith's life ended in a complex and beautiful way, and to Dr. Dan O'Connell, who cared so well. Edith's charities were the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada and Canuck Place Children's Hospice. Service at a later date.
